At the Monaco Yacht Show, Shari sits down with Ana Gabriella Vílchez, Director of Maritime Tourism at the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), to explore what the country has to offer the superyacht community and why it is fast becoming a destination worth knowing.
This December, from 17th to 20th, La Romana becomes the backdrop for something new: the inaugural Dominican Republic Superyacht Rendezvous, known as 1970, bringing the superyacht community to Casa de Campo for the first time. In the interview, Ana Gabriella offers a glimpse into what makes the Dominican Republic such a compelling destination, while Shari takes a sneak peek at what is in store for 1970.
The pitch starts with a simple but pointed idea: the Dominican Republic isn't just somewhere yachts can drop anchor. Between championship golf, the historic streets of Altos de Chavón, a genuinely diverse landscape and a food culture rarely associated with the destination, there's a case to be made for lingering rather than passing through.
Watch the interview now to discover what makes the Dominican Republic such an exciting proposition for the superyacht community and get a first look at what awaits at 1970 this December.
We're so much more than just a beautiful coastline and sunny beach tourism.
